Pandemic Pondering

by Kelly Denise, March 17, 2021

Saw this on another blog. So I am going to try to do this

1. What was life like in early 2020?

Normal. I went to visit my mom, stepdad and grandparents like I always do. Went into places like I always did. Went to Texas to watch my nephew and niece while my brother and sis in law went on a trip. Got a hamster.

On March 14th my dad and I  headed to our house in Texas for a week. Ended up staying for 2 1/2 months due to the shutdown in Louisiana

2. What was the biggest change?

Not being able to see my mom, stepdad and grandparents in person for 2 1\2 months. Not going into stores and take my time. Did a lot of facetime with my mom, stepdad and grandparents. Didn't spend Mother's Day with my mom and grandma, I even cried most of the day. It was the 1st time that I didn't spend Mother's Day with them

3. What were my coping mechanisms?

Facetime and a lot of it. Gumbo, my hamster, my nephew and my niece. My fur doggie nephew. Spending time with my dad, brother, sister-in-law and the kids. Read books, did diamond art and painting by numbers for adults. Took walks and so on

4. What did connection in my relationships look like?

Again Facetime. Zoom with my book club ladies

5. What will I remember the most?

Going to my brother's house and play with my niece and my nephew. Having the kids stay the weekend with my dad and I to give their parents a break lol Watching my nephew and my niece playing with Gumbo and watching them grow up

6. What was the biggest challenge?

Not being able to spend time with my mom, stepdad and grandparents. Also, seeing my book club ladies in person. Go shopping at Hobby Lobby and other stores

7. What was a beautiful memory?

My nephew and my niece were at our house and they wanted to play outside and have a lunch picnic outside too

This beautiful view is the park area and walking area by our house. It's so peaceful and so beautiful

My dad, my nephew and nice taking a walk on Easter

8. What do I believe now that I didn't a year ago?

To be honest, I have no idea right now

9. What would I do differently?

Worry less. Lean on GOD. Let him lead me the way

10. What will I Carry Forward?

Focus on my health, since I had covid in December as did my dad(he got his 1st vaccine the other day) Just be cautious.
